Two houses are up!!!

After a quick night's sleep, we slept in until 6:30 AM and headed to the work site by 7:45.  We were greeted by the smiling faces of the family's children and two firm slabs of concrete.  After a quick prayer and emptying our work trailer, we jumped to the task and started putting the roof sections together!

We were able to put the walls up on both of our houses, we tacked black board to the walls (imagine really dense fiberglass insulation covered in sticky tar), insulated the insides, and put the roofs on the houses all before lunch! It is an amazing task getting all of our students together to carry and plumb the walls together and actually see structure to everyone's hard work from the day before.  It's like a little kid with a set of Legos.  You can see all of the pieces and you know what it is supposed to look like at the end, but it doesn't look like anything until it all comes together.

After lunch we divided up into different teams.  Two teams were on the roofs putting down shingle rolls, a large team began working on chicken wiring the houses and the rest had scattered odd jobs from hydrating everyone, to playing with the families, to putting up sheet rock.

It has definitely been different this year working on two houses as one giant build team, jumping from site to site there is no shortage of work for everyone to be doing, but the most amazing thing is to see how God is working through the students right now.  They are coming together, not just as a team of college missionaries, but as a family in Christ.  As the walls of the houses went up, the barriers between us and the family have gone down.  As the roof covered the house, the good attitudes and excitement grew all the more.  And as we became more and more tired from work, we found more and more strength in God.

Sorry for the shorter post tonight, but we've been at it all day, and we got one more full day in Mexico left!  Please pray for our safety as we continue to work tomorrow, and hopefully will have two complete houses by the next time you check our blog. Our dedication ceremonies are scheduled for 2p.m. tomorrow and hopefully after that, we will have time to get pictures and more stories up!

Grace and Peace!
