So, we have some awesome news. We have officially raised 100% of the money needed for all four houses, our van rentals, insurance, gas, food in Mexico and hotels/churches to stay at! Great job fundraising everyone! THANK YOU to everyone who has helped us with financial gifts. You are a huge blessing to us and to the four families who we will be building for in Mexico!
We have the opportunity to bless these families with not only a house, but the furnishings and dishes to make their new house into a home for them. This is a list of the needs for these families:
Items needed (for 4
different homes)
(2) window
curtains ~ $40
Durable
plates, cups, bowls ~ $15
Silverware ~ $15
Large
skillet ~ $20
Large Stock
pot ~ $30
Broom ~ $10
Mop and
bucket ~ $15
Bed and
mattress ~ $150
Small stove ~ $180
Small fridge ~ $200
Shoes/clothes—any
amount of money for this. Many families only have one or two sets of clothes
available to them.
Soccer ball ~ $15
Baby doll ~ $15 (only one needed)
Because we can't bring the physical items with us (we'd be completely out of room in the vans!), we've set up a website where we and our family, friends and churches can donate specifically towards furnishing the houses for these families. Everything that is raised between now and when we leave on Friday will go directly to that fund. We will then use the cash to buy the items in El Paso and haul them across the border.
The link to donate safely and securely online is available here: FSU Spring Break 2014. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Kate at kate@hhcf.org. THANK YOU for your help!
Also, a prayer request from all of us. A weird strep throat/sinus infection combination is spreading throughout campus along with colds. A few of the students and staff traveling are already suffering from symptoms of these. Please be praying that the ones who are sick will be healed quickly and that no one else will get sick. Last year, the stomach flu spread through our group and we'd rather avoid another plague entering the trip! Thank you for your prayers!
